Electrification work at Swindon Station
Letter to the Leader of the Council from Great Western Railway

Dear David
Electrification work at Swindon station over the late May Bank Holiday will mean rail replacement coaches operating between Gloucester and Swindon from Saturday 26 May to Monday 28 May. Trains will operate from Cheltenham to Gloucester on the route to South Wales.

We have set up a dedicated web page GWR.com/Cotswolds2018, and have pop up messages alerting customers to the changes when they purchase tickets. The revised timetable, including timings for the buses are on all national online and telephone journey planners. We are also using station and on board announcements and messages on automated screens, station posters and social and traditional media to make sure customers are aware of the changes.

I should also mention that Worcestershire County Council are widening the A4440 over the Bank Holiday. Part of that work involves widening the bridge over the railway and the rail line between Hereford and Evesham will be closed from Saturday 26 to Wednesday 30 May. GWR trains will be replaced with coaches between Evesham and Hereford and Cheltenham and Great Malvern. CrossCountry services will continue to serve Ashchurch for Tewkesbury and WMR services to Birmingham are unaffected.

If you need more information on this or any other GWR matter please let me know.

Mark
