Major construction works at Junction 16 now well underway

Over the last two weeks, major construction works have started on Junction 16, most notably the creation of a four-lane approach on the M4 eastbound exit slip.

During the lead up to Christmas, works in this area are set to continue and the slip road will be reduced down to one lane between approximately 9am and 4pm.  This will be monitored and changes made if traffic volumes become too great.

There will also be some off-peak lane closures during December on the westbound off-slip road to complete vegetation clearance. Earthworks in the area south of the junction adjacent to the B4500 (Hay Lane) and the A3102 (Swindon Road) and utility trial hole investigations throughout the site are also set to continue in the next few weeks.

Construction works will stop between the 23rd December and the 3rd January. Some traffic management will be maintained during this period but all traffic lanes will be fully open.

Businesses in the local area will remain open as usual throughout the entire works.
