Carrisbrook Terrace road re-surfacing

Friday 19th November for 1 day.

From SBC: “Due to the nature of the works and the local environment, the works will be carried utilising a road closure, to ensure that adequate health & safety is maintained for the Contractor & local residents.

The Contractor will maintain pedestrian access for the duration; however due to the nature of the works, disruption is inevitable and vehicular access may be restricted. It is essential that the road remains un-trafficked until the new material has set, as early trafficking could lead to premature failure. Dedicated traffic management operatives at the extent of the works will monitor access and give motorists assistance.

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience these works will cause, but trust you will appreciate the necessity for these essential works to maintain Swindon’s highway network. “

A346 & M4 Roadworks

There are 2 sets of roadworks shortly on the A346 to repair the road surface. These are:
2 way lights required in two different locations. Firstly south of the ridgeway junction to the layby on the left and the second to the North of the ridgeway up to the bus stop on the left. SBC are responsible for these works.

M4 J15 slip road also has the following:

Construction – Improvement/Upgrading – M4 Junction 15 Westbound Exit Slip. Lane 1 Closure for M4 Junction 15 Improvement Works. National Highways are responsible for this work.

Chiseldon Parish Neighbourhood Plan – An update

At the September full council meeting, Cllrs voted to go ahead with the creation of a Neighbourhood plan for the parish, with the assistance of an independent consultant. This is a long process (at least 2 years) and required the assistance and input of residents of the parish but it should afford the parish additional protection to ensure development is sympathetic and appropriate to the character of the area, as well as other advantages. Grants are available to cover the main costs of the NHP which the PC will be applying for.

Since the approval we have registered with Swindon Borough Council for approval to be a Neighbourhood Designated area and are working on the application paperwork for the grant.

There is a meeting 13th December at the Chiseldon House Hotel 7.00pm where the public can listen to the information to hand from our external consultant Andrea Pellegram. We will publish further details in due course. You can refer to our website, FB or noticeboards for updates.

Memory Café next date.

The popular memory café is next running Friday 3rd December 10.30am at the Church Hall off Butts Road. The café was created for anyone who wants some company and a chat over a cup of tea or coffee. Also for carers who look after anyone with Dementia or Alzheimer’s to come along with their loved ones. There is singing and dancing, all very informal and fun. There is no charge to attend.

Recreation Hall, Recreation field and Chapel hire:

The Rec hall off Norris Close, the Rec field in the same location and the Parish Council Chapel offices are all available for hire for events, meetings or parties.

Please contact the Clerk on the details above who can advise of charges, availability and what space would suit your needs.

Defibrillators – a reminder

A reminder that the Parish has 4 defibrillators – one outside Cameo Hairdressers on High Street, one outside the Pavilion on the Recreation Field, one outside the Calley Memorial Hall on Draycott Road and one in the BT Box in Badbury. All units are accessed by calling 999 to gain the code for the box. You cannot use these defibrillators on someone who doesn’t need it as the machine will not work. It also provides audible instructions on how to use them.

There is also a defibrillator on the outside wall of the school in Ogbourne St George.

Next Parish council meeting

The next Full Council meeting of the Parish Council will be Monday 10th January 2022. This will start at 7.30pm at the Rec Hall off Norris Close. There is a public recess at the start of proceedings, after which residents can choose to leave the session.
