Melksham Town Council have two open vacancies.

Locum Clerk/Committee Clerk

£21,166 – £22,911

We are looking to hire a short-term Committee Clerk to assist the council during the implementation of our staffing restructure. Working full time you would be responsible for the preparation of all our agendas, using the Modern.Gov Committee system, attendance at evening council and committee meetings and responsibility for drafting the minutes and action sheets. We are a small but friendly team and the position could lead to a permanent position for the right candidate. The council is flexible to your working arrangements so if it was preferred you could work from home.

Please get in touch with the Town Clerk, Linda Roberts linda.roberts@melksham-tc.gov.uk, if you are interested in hearing more.

Amenities Consultant

Melksham Town Council has a 6-12 Month Temporary Contract Opportunity assisting our outdoor services team. The Town Council want to improve its services, and expand them, with a very keen eye on value for money. We now need the services of an experienced Amenities consultant, to undertake a thorough analysis of what is needed in three key areas:

  • Outside spaces;
  • Assembly Rooms; and
  • Town Hall.
  • Town Council property which is leased to third parties
  • To ensure all town council buildings, activities and practices go towards mitigating climate change, so there will be a determined focus on reducing the town council’s carbon footprint as well as assisting in the preparation for a full devolution of services from Wiltshire Council.

We have a grounds team that increasingly is taking over services from Wiltshire Council. In doing so, they are improving the standards of work undertaken, and taking the initiative in doing so. But is the team the right size? Of the right mix of skills? Does it have the equipment needed to do the work in the most efficient and effective way?

We would like to engage someone who can ensure the team is working efficiently and safely, someone to prepare a comprehensive buildings and maintenance schedule linked to a 10-year budget. Introduce a forward plan which identifies short, mid and long-term goals. The role could lead to full time permanent employment.

Remuneration £30,000 (pro rata)

Please email the Town Clerk, Linda Roberts linda.roberts@melkhsam-tc.gov.uk for further information.
