Libraries to close next Tuesday afternoon (29th Nov)
Library users are being advised that almost all of Swindon’s libraries will be closed next Tuesday afternoon (29 Nov).
All libraries will close at 12noon, with the exception of the Express Zone at the Central Library and Walcot Library, which is run by volunteers.
The Express Zone will be open until 9pm with a limited service and computers will only be available for 30-minute slots. Walcot Library will be open as normal until 4.30pm. Libraries will reopen as normal the following day (30 Nov).
The closures are taking place to allow library staff to attend an important briefing on the future of the borough’s library service. Cabinet papers with details of the proposed changes to the service will be published on the Council’s website later that evening.
Councillors will discuss the proposals at the next meeting of the Council’s Cabinet on Wednesday, 7 December.
The town’s libraries will also close at 12noon on Thursday, 22 December for the same reason.
