Lydiard Park’s popular Easter Egg Trail will once again provide fun for all the family on Easter Sunday (31 March).

With clues hidden around the park and lake, participants will search for hidden eggs to uncover a special word to win a prize.

The trail will take place between 11am and 3pm, and is open to all ages. Trail sheets can be obtained from the Coach House Tea Rooms.

For just £5 per child, participants can join in the fun. No booking is required, but children must be accompanied by an adult. Visitors are reminded that parking charges apply.

As part of the Easter festivities, Lydiard House Museum will reopen its doors the previous day (30 March) with a brand-new exhibition titled ‘Lest We Forget: The Black Contribution to the World Wars in Wiltshire’.

The thought-provoking exhibition offers visitors a glimpse into the often overlooked history of Caribbean and American servicemen during WWI and WWII in Wiltshire.

Through a blend of videos, artworks, and contributions from local groups, the exhibition pays tribute to the brave individuals who made significant contributions to both war efforts.

Councillor Chris Watts, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, said, “Lydiard has been running the Easter trail for a number of years now and it’s always been very popular, so I’m delighted it will be running again this month.

“It’s a great way to explore the grounds of Lydiard Park and is good fun for all the family. Once you’ve completed the trail why not pop into Lydiard Park Hotel for its renowned hog roast.”

For those looking to indulge their taste buds, Lydiard Park Hotel invites park visitors to savour its renowned hog roast, expertly crafted by the hotel’s executive chef.

The hog roast will be available from 12pm to 4pm on Friday, 29 March and Sunday, 31 March in front of the Walled Garden by the Coach House Tea Rooms.

Additionally, guests can book a table at the Palm Bar and Restaurant for a lamb special version of its Sunday Lunch.

Throughout the bustling Easter holiday period, the Forest Café and Coach House Tea Rooms will also be open.
