As a representative for Swindon Borough Council, I write to inform you of the upcoming investigation works. The location of the site and the extents of the works are attached to this email.
The purpose of these works is to investigate the underside of the carriageway for a future project. These works involve excavation of trenches at various locations throughout the site extents.
The works are provisionally programmed to commence from Monday 3rd April for 4 days between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00. However, this duration may over run slightly due to uncontrolled circumstances such as plant breakdowns, unfavourable weather conditions or the need to carry out additional repairs discovered during the construction works.
There will be advance information signs erected on site giving confirmed start dates.
Due to the nature of the works and the local environment, the works will be carried out within a temporary road closure, to ensure that adequate health & safety is maintained for the Contractor & local residents.
The main diversion route for all ‘through’ traffic whilst works are being undertaken within the road closure will be via B4005 – B4006 – A4259 – A419 and vice versa.
Traffic Marshals will be available on site, at all times during the works, and will assist in dealing with any access problems or queries that you may have.
The work force will maintain pedestrian and vehicular access for the duration; however due to the nature of the works, some disruption is inevitable and may be restricted at times. It is essential that the areas remain un-trafficked until the new material has set, as early use could lead to premature failure. Dedicated traffic management operatives at the extent of the works will monitor access and give motorists assistance.
