Looking back on 2017, they have had another busy year down in the Washpool.

Their Friends Scheme has been generously supported and, by the time you read this, They hope to have been able to say thank you to many of you in person, at their inaugural Friends event. They’ve also had one or two new volunteers turning up for their Conservation Days, which is very welcome!

The Washpool are delighted that they have been able to revive the ancient art of hedge-laying, with a successful training session taking place last month. A huge thank you to those who came along, and they hope you will agree that the results already look impressive!

Their sheep continue to do well, and now have a second hut to share during bad weather. Thank you to all the volunteers who will be supplementing the boys diet with hay and checking on them during the winter months.

Thanks also to Jane Beaumont and the Calley Hall Coffee Morning Team who recently adopted WARP as one of their charities and made a wonderful donation to help with our running costs.

Next year WARP hope to make some improvements to the wildlife ponds and install wildlife cameras to capture more information on those furry and feathered friends who visit our valley. We are also looking at the possibility of introducing a wildflower meadow and an events space.

Finally, they will be continuing with their regular Conservation Days as follows:

  • Sunday 21st January 2018
  • Sunday 18th March 2018
  • Sunday 20th May 2018
  • Sunday 15th July 2018
  • Sunday 16th September 2018
  • Sunday 18th November 2018

WARP is wishing you a wonderful holiday season
