Public Consultation for proposal planning application on new Road

There was a massive attendance to the meeting on Monday 11th June for the proposed application on New Road, we counted around 130 people. Thank you to everyone who attended and to all the Councilors and volunteers who delivered leaflets and helped on the night. Our thanks also to the Chiseldon House Hotel who provided their venue free of charge.

We gained a massive insight into local views, with mostly comments against the development but also some with a more positive outlook. We thank everyone for standing up and speaking.

The Parish Council Planning Committee will now meet on Monday 18th June and formulate a recommendation to Full Council for Monday 18th June also. We will take into consideration public views, the view of other consultees such as flood authority, the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Conservation and Heritage officers.

The decision maker for this application is Swindon Borough Council. We will provide updates via the Community FB page and our website.

Local Transport Issues – Your views matter – Comments still Welcome

The Planning, Highways and Transport Development Committee are working on a long term strategy document to present to Swindon Borough Council to highlight certain areas of concern within the Parish to open dialog on how to improve these issues.

The 6 areas voted on by the Committee for inclusion are:

  • M4 J15 improvements to A346 and A419, including issues with surrounding villages during the work process
  • New Road/ A346 junction
  • New Road Build Out
  • Roundabout at the junction of New Road/Hodson Road/ Draycott Road at the Patriot’s Arms pub
  • Parking issues within the Parish
  • Improvements to road system at High Street and Mays Lane.

Whilst we appreciate that there are other areas of concern the residents may feel should be included on the list, (and may well already be looked at separately by the council) the Committee felt that focusing on 6 main items would allow the chance of greater success, which would then mean other projects could be added to the list.

We would welcome feedback from residents on these 6 items only, in terms of evidence you may have to support our request for changes to be made. It may be accidents you have witnessed, police incident numbers for an incident that was reported or similar situations in other areas that were successfully resolved. Please email, write or call the Clerk on the contact details above. Thank you.

Recreation Ground pitch improvements

Phase 1 of the pitch improvements started on 12th June where our appointed contractor will be re-seeding and fertilizing the ground. More work will follow.

New Parish Planters

Our final phase of new planters will be installed shortly. 2 at Draycot Foliat, and 4 on New Road in front of the allotments. We will be planting them up and are hoping that residents or allotment holders on new Road can assist with watering. The Draycot Foliat planters already have a volunteer in place.
