There has been an overwhelming response to Wiltshire Council’s review of subsidised bus services, with over 10,000 questionnaires returned so far. As the closing date is 4th April there is still time to take part and Chiseldon Parish Council has sent in a letter, asking for a fresh look at the proposed £5.1m cut to bus services in Wiltshire and Swindon.

Stagecoach West has opened a brand new service depot in Cheney Manor, Swindon.  This is a modern facility to look after the fleet of Stagecoach buses in the Swindon area, costing £3.2m.  The previous facility in Old Town is now closed and the site will be sold for residential development.

The Swindon-Highworth bus service (No7) is back to normal operation.

More car parking spaces are to be provided at the Great Western Hospital for staff parking.  This should help to relieve the pressure on public car parking that causes tailbacks out onto the main road into Swindon on a daily basis.

There are number of events to celebrate the 175 years of the Swindon Railway Works over the Easter Weekend.  Details can be found on the Steam website.

There will be three-way temporary traffic lights when work commences on the traffic calming measures in New Road in early April.  This may cause delays to the buses.

There are some planned closures on the railway network between 2nd and 10th April, on the 17th April and between 28th to 30th May.  Please look at the GWR website for further information.
