Local Transport Issues – Your Views Matter

The Planning, Highways and Transport Development Committee are working on a long term strategy document to present to Swindon Borough Council to highlight certain areas of concern within the Parish to open dialog on how to improve these issues.

The 6 areas voted on by the Committee for inclusion are:

  • M4 J15 improvements to A346 and A419, including issues with surrounding villages during the works process
  • New Road/A346 junction
  • New Road Build Out
  • Roundabout at the junction of New Road/Hodson Road/Draycott Road at the Patriot’s Arms pub
  • Parking issues within the Parish
  • Improvements to road system at High Street and Mays Lane

Whilst we appreciate that there are other areas of concern that residents may feel should be included on the list, (and may well already by looked at separately by the council) the Committee felt that focusing on 6 main items would allow the chance of greater success, which would then mean other projects could be added to the list.

We would welcome feedback from residents on these 6 items only, in terms of evidence you may have to support our request for changes to be made. It may be accidents you have witnessed, police incident numbers for an incident that was reported or similar situations in other areas that were successfully resolved. Please email, write or call the Clerk on the contact details above. Thank you.

Village Planters

Now that spring is maybe arriving we need to organise some volunteers who can hopefully help with watering and some weeding as needing of the planters around the area. Plus planting of summer flowers.

Currently we have 6 planters:

  • 2 at the entrance to Chiseldon on New Road which I think I have a volunteer for.
  • 1 at Badbury as you approach from the A346
  • 1 at Hodson as you approach from Chiseldon direction near the pub – volunteer has stepped forward
  • 1 on Draycott Road at the entrance/exit to Chiseldon – Volunteer has stepped forward
  • 1 on Hodson Road at the entrance/exit to Chiseldon

If you think you could volunteer to care for a planter can you please let us know. We are planning on buying sealed water containers so there isn’t water sloshing around in cars and light tools such as trowels if needs be. We already have florescent vests. Please email me on clerk@chiseldonpc.gov.uk or ring on the above number if you can help. Thanks.

Recreation Hall On Norris Close
