The new pedestrian-cycle route along the northern verge of Covingham Drive was completed a few weeks ago and it’s great to see lots of walkers and cyclists already making good use of it.  We have received some really positive feedback on the new route which is a high quality addition to the Swindon Urban Cycle and Pedestrian Network, and connects into the existing cycle facilities on Merlin Way and Dorcan Way.  It will also provide future pedestrian and cycle connections to the new Eastern Villages development area.

The path was officially opened yesterday (27th April) by pupils from Colebrook Junior School who enjoyed using the new route on their bikes and scooters.  The main contractor (Volker Highways) and the project team drawn from the Council’s Transport Planning and Project Delivery teams were also in attendance.
