On Saturday 3rd May the Chiseldon FC senior team played in the final of the George Thomas / Don Rogers Cup at the Swindon Supermarine Stadium. The Team had reached the final after being victorious in three earlier rounds, including a hard-fought 4-2 semi-final victory against tough opposition from a higher division.

The final saw Chiseldon play against a strong Old Town United team which has enjoyed a solid season in the league above. Unfortunately the difference in standard between the teams began to tell when Old Town raced to a 3-0 lead by half time – despite Chiseldon playing some good football.

However, the second half was a much more even affair with Chiseldon continuing to play nice football without, unfortunately, capitalising on a number of chances that were created. The final score was 4-1 but all involved can be very proud of Chiseldon FC’s achievement in making the final and putting on a good show. The aim is now to go one step further next season and hopefully lift the trophy!
