Who we are - Chiseldon Parish Council

Chiseldon Parish Council is comprised of 15 councillors that have either been elected or co-opted. Currently, our councillors consist of business owners, business people, and local people who have retired and can bring their experience and skills to the council.

Councillors volunteer their time in order to help and have a say in their local community. None receive any payment or allowance other than reimbursement of expenses incurred in the line of duty. The Clerks role is a salaried role as this is a legally required post. The council also employ a Responsible Financial Officer/Admin Officer.

If a position on the council or committee is contested, an election decided by the parish constituents takes place. Councillors can serve a maximum of 5 years before requiring to be re-appointed. In order to become a councillor, you must be at least 18 years old and a UK, commonwealth and/or EU citizen.

Living Wage Employer

Chiseldon Parish Council is accredited as a Living Wage Employer. The Parish Council recognises the need to be a responsible employer and monitor salaries in line with the Living Wage calculations to ensure our staff are valued and are paid for the hard work they do. Staff Structure

Parish Clerk – reports to the Council as an elected body
Administration Officer and RFO – reports to the Parish Clerk.

Parish Council Personnel & Contacts

The Council Chairman is elected annually at the May Annual Meeting of the Parish Council, and all committee Chairman are elected at the first committee meeting after the annual meeting. All positions are held for a year.
